Cael's Sky Speeder

Hi Tom!

I love lego. I have a big lot of lego my dad gave me and some I buyed myself. My dads lego is very old lego.

I really liked your sky speeder and Jaspers bird. I decided to have a try at making some sky lego too. My lego craft is blue like the sky is blue. That is so the pilot can be invisible when they fly and no one can see them.

It has a shooter on the front and flags on the side that blow in the wind. It has to have a steering wheel so we don't crash and there are grabbers on the side to hold things. The tail bit is to balance it otherwise the pilot would fall out of the sky.

I decided to make a submarine to go with the sky speeder. The submarine is blue just like the sky and also the ocean is blue too. Mum says the ocean is blue because it reflects the sky, but maybe it's the other way around. Submarines go under the water, sub means under and marine means water. Mr Jekyll is driving my submarine. Batman also has a bat submarine which I buyed for myself with my own money.

Mr Jekyll has a black hat, and he is Mr Hyde too. MrJekyll is calm and relaxed and he thinks alot, Mr Hyde is very angry and strong but sometimes he is not so good. He has a magic potion to drink and it is purple.

I want to write my name now:
cael jacob hannagan

Here are some videos mum found on why the sky is blue and why the ocean is blue

Cael and Ava's story

One day Cael woke up and decided to have a lemonade stand, but there were no lemons in the house and the store was closed! Where would they get their lemons from? Cael decided to call Ava and ask her to help him find some lemons. So he rang the phone and spoke to Ava.

'Hello Ava' said Cael 'I need help getting some lemons'
'Hello Cael' said Ava 'I would LOVE to help you find some lemons, but first I have to pack my bag!'
'OKAY' said Cael, 'I will pack my bag too!!'

So they both packed their bags. Cael packed his magical ladder, a torch and lots of yummy food like radishes, sandwiches and a big bottle of water. Ava packed her magical keys and her bow and arrow and lots of delicious fruit. Cael remembered he forgot his sword and sheath so he packed those too. SHINKK. 'Wait a minute' said Ava 'We better pack a first aid kit and some warm coats' so they did.

'Where are the lemons Cael?' Ava asked, 'They are in the giants garden' said Cael 'But it's very far away, how will we get there?' 'I KNOW said Ava, we will ride Abby there!' 'Good idea' said Cael. So they climbed on top of Abby together and off they went, clipty clopty clipty clopty.

They rode for a long long time, and then they finally got to the giants garden. The but there was a big wall surrounding the garden and Abby was much too little to jump over it. They both climbed off of Abby and had a wee think. 'Hmm' said Cael,'How will we get over this wall?' 'I know!' said Ava we can use your magical ladder!' 'Good thinking!' said Cael, and he got his magical ladder out. FLOOP! went the ladder and they both climbed out 'Phew,' said Ava, this is a lot of hard work. 'Yeah' said Cael, 'It certainly is' but they finally got to the top of the wall and jumped down into the giants garden 'Shhhhhhh!' said Cael, 'we must be really very very quiet, I think the giant is sleeping' so they tip toed over to the lemon tree. Then a little bird saw them and flew away very fast, it made lots of noise and woke the giant up. 'Oh NO' said Ava 'What are we going to do?????' Cael said 'We must fight the giant Ava' 'Okay Cael' said Ava and she got out her bow and arrows. SCHWIKK! and Cael got out his sword SHINKK! Cael and Ava stood ready and the giant ROARED. 'GRRR WHO IS EATING MY LEMON'S THEY ARE MY SPECIAL LEMONS FOR ME AND I DON'T WANT TO SHARE THEM' Cael and Ava were a little bit scared but then Ava got her arrow and shot it at the giant, THWIP it flew through the air and ZOK it landed in the giants leg. FWING Cael swung his sword at the same time

'OWWWWWWWWWWW' cried the giant and fell down' he was crying and very sad 'MY POOR LEG IS VERY SORE NOW, WHY DID YOU HURT ME???' Cael and Ava felt sad for the giant. So Cael gave the giant a cuddle while Ava fixed up his leg with a sticking plaster. 'OH THANK YOU' said the giant 'I FEEL MUCH BETTER'. After the giant was fixed up they all had a picnic with radishes and fruit and sandwiches and a big drink of water. After that they felt much better.

The giant very kindly gave them a big bag of lemons so they could make some lemonade. Cael and Ava packed them into their bags and used Ava's magic keys to open a secret door in the wall, the giant showed them where. 'Good bye giant' they both said and the giant blew them a very big kiss goodbye too. When they got back to Abby and climbed on with their heavy bags of lemons, Abby sat down and wouldn't move. 'Oh dear' said Ava 'MOVE Abby' but then Cael got some carrots from his bag and fed them to Abby who was very happy, then Ava put a warm jersey on Abby to keep her warm and then she and had enough energy to walk home.

When they got home Cael and Ava mixed lemons and honey and water together and made delicious lemonade. Yum!

Flying things

Today my Mum set me and my Friend Jasper a challenge. It was to to see how could make a cool model out of Lego. She gave us a word and we had to build something to do with that word. The word was "sky".

So the challenge was on!

I made a sky speeder.

It has two big boosters, some headlights so it can see where it is going, one propeller which is on the tail and it is 2 seated. It also has a smoke machine that it blows back from it to distract other craft so it can win the race.

Jasper made a giant bird. It has two legs and really cool feet, eyes and a beak and the wings are made out of flat big pieces of Lego. It is so big that people can ride on it, it has sort-of seats that they can sit on.

So I was wondering, I know there are a few other "Squirrel Kids" who really like Lego too, who thinks they could do this challenge too? You can make anything you like as long as it has some connection to the sky.

Catch you all later,
Tom

My Gold Coast Extravaganza

I went to the Gold Coast with my Dad on the 17th of February. I went to stay with my Nan in Gold Coast, while Dad went to Brisbane. Gold Coast is the coast of Brisbane, so Gold Coast is 1 hour drive from Brisbane. The first thing I did was swimming in the pool outside.

Chris (Nan's partner) lent me this grey boogie board to teach me how to swim.

This is Chris teaching me how to swim.
(This picture is at the end of the trip, you can see, because Dad is here)

Next day, we went to the bookshop. We bought 5 books for 5 dollars! It was awesome.

After that, we went to the cafe. I had a tropical juice, and Nan and Chris had a black coffee

The next day, we went to the sand sculpting contest, the sculptors weren't actually there doing them.
The sculptures had plastic over them because of the (I mean REALLY) windy weather.
The next day, we went to the shopping centre to shop for gifts for my friends/family.
I bought my Brother, Vincent a dinosaur plaster of Paris making thingy.
Bought my best friends, Charlotte and Ruby, some earrings, and my Mum some earrings.
And all of us lollies!
We also tryed the movie "Life of Pi"
But, it was too scary for both Nan and I. It was very graphic. It showed the hyena EATING (Literally EATING) the zebra and the orangutan! Disgusting! And, (Not that 3D is bad, I love 3D) the 3D made it worse! (Author's note: if any of you have seen Life of Pi and liked it, I'm sorry for my complaints).
The next day, Nan and I went to Surfer's Paradise (a little town near where they live)
for an Ice-Cream! I had a double layered one, (on top) strawberry ice-cream
(on the bottom) Mint ice-cream.
It was SOOO Delicious!!! Except I felt really bad in the stomach afterwards,
because I am dairy intolerant GRRRR.
Then on Thursday the weather was nicer, so we went to see the sculptures.

My favourite was the "Eye"

These are some pics we took of the sculptures:

It was now Friday, and Nan, Chris, and I were in hustle and bustle
getting ready for Aunty Tracy (Great-Aunty, that is)
and Uncle Mike (Great-Uncle that is), and Dad, were coming over for dinner!
(Except Dad is staying) Tonight, we have our chef, Nan! And our assistant, Ant!
Ready set, cook! Tonight, Nan is cooking

(Spaghetti?)
Nope, Spaghetti and MEATBALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YUMMMMMM.

This is my Aunty Tracy

On the red couch, Mike

And, this is me playing the one and only "Greensleeves" on the piano (I know my piano, I do lessons)

And this was dinner:

YUM!

But my trip isn't over yet, Dad and I are still going to the horse show tonight, because,
Its now SATURDAY!
I was so excited. When we got there, we got given cowboy hats.
We went to our seat and found our entree sitting infront of us, salad in a wrap. There was lots of thunder sound effects. Once, the thunder was so loud it startled me while I was having a drink.
Then, there was about 5 or 6 riders coming out of the secret doors.
They were cracking their whipps and trying to catch the criminals. They had sports guns as their guns, and kept trying to shoot the criminals. It was really cool, then they had a play. It was about lots of competetive riders, and competitions. There were some pretty talented riders out there.
There were woman who could hang off the sides of their horse. And men who could control their horses around fire! It was EPIC!!!!! We also have roast beef for main, and Pavlova for dessert.

But my trip still isn't over!
BOOM, *Flash*.
An electrical storm, 5 minutes before we were due to leave. Ohhhh crap. ZOOOOOOMMM (That wasn't the storm, that was me, running to Dad's room). D-D-D-Dad? This is totally freaking me out.
BOOM CRACK CRASH
Ok, now, I had a shower, got dressed, and we made a dash for the car.

Now it is about 3 months later, and we are safely home. Ahhhh. Nice and relaxing.

I had a really super awesome time staying with Nan and Chris, it was my first trip away from my parents, and Nan and Chris made me feel at home. I can't wait to visit them again some time.

Cael Learns about Lighting

I asked mum about lighting today so she showed me a video about how lightning is made. I learned that lightning can go from a cloud to the ground but also from the ground into a cloud. Lightning is pretty scary, it gets very very hot!

After we looked at all of the videos mum showed me a magic trick with wax candles and watercolour paint, we made a picture of lightning in the sky together. We made lightning with the wax candles and then painted the sky over it and the lightning showed through! Just like magic.

When we finished our picture mum showed me how to make electricity with a balloon. Here is a video of it.

Alexander

On the 21st of January, my baby Brother, Alex, was born!

It was 2.30 in the morning, and Mum was in labour. Dad was rushing around with warm towels, I was wondering “what is going on”, and Vincent was still asleep! It was havoc that morning.  Then, the pool finished filling, and Mum hopped in. Mum relaxed straight away. Now my Mum was in the pool. But whenever she gets a contraction, Dad needs to hold her up, so I am left doing all the organising. Putting Mum's music on (Didn't work :/), passing her the water bottle. The reasons I had to do most of those things was because the midwife, Joey, hadn't arrived yet! Just when Mum said 'I can't do it anymore' her waters broke. Then, the midwife arrived! Finally! But she was, good thing, 5 minutes early. Once Joey did the check up, Alex's head started to come! Yay!!! Dad was like, 'Alex is now (Half) born!!!!!'. I was like (in my mind) 'Yay!!!'. Then.... The sounds got worse, so I went just outside the small lounge door. All the sounds sort of scared me..... But it wasn't too bad, as long as my little Brother, Alex, was born safely..... So I stayed outside the door to listen..... And then I had had enough of listening, so I went in and saw my baby Brother's body! He was so cute already!!!! He was all pink and white and soft!!! Then all of a sudden, Alex's feet came out! He is all out, my brand new baby Brother, Alex!!!! Then Mum said 'can someone get him out of the water-' Then she thought a little 'NO, dont get him out!, I will do it, I can move!'. And just when she said that, Vincent woke up and came out! Alex was pulled out of the water and this is what he looks like!
 Him then:

Him with me :/

My new job looking after Uncle Aka.

Hi Everybody,
I have a new job now. I am responsible for feeding Uncle Aka his pellets every day. I also have to wash out his water trough and put new water in every few days.
Uncle Aka is a Takahe. I love Uncle Aka. He is in a special pen to keep him safe from the bullies. The bullies are other Takahe because Uncle Aka has a lame leg and they pick on him. I feel sad about it.
Here are some photos of me taking care of him. He has really cool colours aye. He follows me like a puppy. It makes me laugh.
Uncle Aka waiting at the gate for me.

Following me like a puppy.

Playing hide and seek.

Yum yum pellets.

Cleaning his water trough to refill with fresh water.

Sitting on the beach while Dad meets and greets the Friends of Mana Island group. They are here to have  a look around today.
